Nuisance Telephone Calls

Nuisance Telephone Calls affect most of us at some point in our lives. There’s nothing more frustrating than rushing to answer a phone only to find out that its a nuisance sales call. Consumers can opt in to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and businesses can use the Company Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) but somehow, a huge wave of calls make it over this barrier.

What is the Solution to nuisance calls?

To answer this question, we have to start with WHO is responsible for the calls in the first place. Is it government, OFCOM, call centers or the people receiving the calls (for giving their phone number out)? Or is technology to blame? If technology like auto dialers and automated outbound dialers have created the problem, then technology can surely fix the problem. With the advent of new voip and sip telephone systems, embracing all aspects of telephony technology that were once considered too expensive for most users, SPAM call filtering at a sip network level, cannot be too far away. There’s a huge amount of pressure on the broadband providers to block spam email so why not nuisance / spam telephone calls?
